Horror genre research
Settings:
In horror movies, they normally take place in isolate places; such as abandoned houses or small communities. This is to portray isolation and that you're alone to connote helplessness. They show the darker side of human nature and that there is nothing that they can do. The places also tend to have dark pasts; like insane asylums or houses where people were murdered. A movie example of this would be in films such as the isolated hotel from The Shining, as it is far from other forms of civilisation. Another example would be Camp Crystal Lake from Friday the 13th, which is a place where evil could be lurking anywhere.![]() |
